Events Producer

Overview:
The Film Society of Lincoln Center is seeking qualified applicants to fill the temporary position of Events Producer. The Film Society of Lincoln Center presents a year round season that includes premieres of new films from an international roster of established and emerging directors; major retrospectives; in-depth symposia and high profile events such as New Directors/New Films, Rendezvous with French Cinema and the Human Rights International Film Festival.

This position is responsible for the preparation and execution of all launch week events surrounding the opening of the new film center. The Events Producer will liaise with the Marketing, Communications, Development, and Programming Departments as well as work closely with the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer. The position would start immediately and continue through the opening of the Film Center which is scheduled for April 2011.

Responsibilities:
• Develop a strategic events plan, with timeline, in coordination with other departments; manage all aspects of the event planning process
• Activate event-related corporate sponsorship and branding
• Create budget & projections; track expenses
• Manage production schedules and logistics
• Hire and manage all event staff
• Source and negotiate contracts with venues and vendors
• Understand executive goals for each event and collaborate with other departments to reach them
• Obtain necessary permits
• Prepare documents for events, including run-of-show, production schedules
• On-site event management
• Uphold brand consistency across a wide variety of launch week events

Qualifications
• Five years prior experience in the design and execution of large scale events; experience in launch events required
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Must think strategically to problem solve & offer creative solutions
• Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
• Must be able to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Film-related background

Database/Application Analyst

Overview:
Film Society of Lincoln Center seeks a freelance MS SQL Database/Application Analyst. Position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and maintenance of the Tessitura Ticketing and Development Software.

Responsibilities:
• Revise and update priorities and protocols to maintain database integrity, and ensure greater system and user performance - including the development of policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Work with all departments (mainly Development and Ticketing) to create new and modify existing financial, analytical, demographic and customized reports through the use of MS SQL.
• Maintain user accounts and security settings for the application.
• Collaborate with Lincoln Center IT to troubleshoot all technology issues relating to this application or its integration with other applications.
• Responsible for software revisions/ upgrades/ implementations.
• Provide support and direction for the ongoing customization and integration of the Tessitura database.

Qualifications:
• B.S. in Computer Science (or 2 year degree with DBA Certification).
• Tessitura technical and functional knowledge is advantageous.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience with MS SQL 2005 and SQL Server Profiler.
• Candidate must possess excellent project and time management skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work well under pressure.
• Experience with Web API Calls Knowledge and the T-Stats reporting tool is a plus
• Knowledge of and familiarity with any web development products, accounting software, and other ticketing/development software is a plus.
• Non-profit experience and a genuine interest in the arts are desired.

Publisher Film Comment Magazine

The Film Society of Lincoln Center is looking for an energetic and highly entrepreneurial Publisher to drive the commercial performance and strategy for its award-winning niche publication Film Comment. Launched in 1962, the magazine has grown, along with the New York Film Festival, to be one of the most important contributors to the growth and appreciation of world cinema in the U.S. With a passionate readership of over 12,000 people the magazine is a tangible ambassador for the organization and enhances the visibility and stature of the Film Society in world of cinema.

The Publisher will be responsible for generating new revenue streams/profits by identifying strategic advertising relationships and by working with Circulation to explore ways of increasing sales at the newsstand and via subscription & online initiatives. The Publisher will also be responsible for the creation and execution of an online digital presence and strategy. Specifically, the Publisher will develop strategic plans and sales strategies and undertake key negotiations with prospective partners within the film world. The ideal candidate must have the exceptional drive needed to take the magazine to the next level.

Primary Responsibilities:

- The ability to inspire others with entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm.
- Identify, negotiate, and initiate strategic advertising partnerships and new business opportunities to increase revenue, within both the print and online space.
- Provide realistic advertising forecasts and revise monthly as necessary.
- Continually monitor, investigate, and evaluate new technologies, partnerships, and concepts to create new revenue streams.
-Work with the marketing department to create a clear long-term marketing strategy that covers subscription and newsstand sales, sponsorship and online advertising.
-Seek out new and innovative promotions that will help drive sales objectives and execute them with the support of the marketing department.
-Work closely with the editorial staff to create commercial advantage for the magazine.

Volunteer Coordinator

The Film Society of Lincoln Center is currently seeking a candidate to coordinate and lead a team of dedicated volunteers for this year’s New York Film Festival (September 24 – October 10). Qualified individuals must be organized, possess clear communication skills, have solid management and leadership abilities, and be excellent with time management. The Volunteer Coordinator must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and be comfortable with recruiting and motivating a team. Festival and management experience is a plus. Please note that this is a temporary paid position, and that the candidate must be available before and for the duration of the Festival.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center is currently seeking applicants to fill volunteer positions from September 10 to October 13, 2010 in the areas of Press and Merchandising for the 48th annual New York Film Festival. Interested individuals should be organized, detailed-oriented, and have a positive and outgoing work attitude. Tasks include – but are not limited to - assistance in organizing press screenings, basic administrative duties, and general assistance within the Press and Merchandising Departments.
